This is an estimate for guidance only, not your real credit score. Real scores are calculated by credit bureaus.

Under RBI rules you can get one free full credit report every year from each credit bureau. Checking your own score does not lower it.

Money basics, explained simply

Short answers to the questions we hear most.

What is a good credit (CIBIL) score in India?

Scores range from 300 to 900. 750 or above is excellent and gets the best loan and card terms. 650–749 is good, 550–649 is fair and below 550 needs work. Most lenders prefer 700+.

How can I improve my credit score?

Pay every EMI and card bill on time, keep card usage below 30% of the limit, avoid applying for many loans at once, keep old accounts open and check your report for errors. Improvement usually shows in 3–6 months.

Do loan enquiries reduce my credit score?

When a lender checks your report for a loan application (a hard enquiry) your score can dip slightly for a few months. Checking your own score is a soft enquiry and does not reduce it.

How is EMI calculated?

EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ ÷ ((1+r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of months. Try it in the EMI calculator above.

What is the difference between FD and RD?

An FD is a one-time deposit for a fixed period. An RD lets you deposit a fixed amount every month. Both earn a fixed interest rate, so RD suits regular savers and FD suits lump sums.

SIP or lump sum: which is better?

A SIP invests a fixed amount monthly and averages your cost over time, which suits regular income. A lump sum suits money you already have and can leave invested for years. Market-linked returns are never guaranteed.

Is Toolzbox a bank or a lender?
